Bear mauls Alaska man who gave it barbecue meat

Bear Mauls Alaska Man

A man was mauled by a bear near the Eklutna Lake Campground on Saturday after he threw some barbecued meat at the animal, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

He was at the lake, north of Anchorage for a church picnic, said Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen.

“He’d been drinking,” she said.

His name is currently not being released because he may be charged with illegally feeding wildlife, Ipsen said.

Troopers say this is what they think happened based on an account of the event the man later gave:
Sometime around 5 p.m. on Saturday he broke off from the church picnic and decided to go for a bike ride, bringing some food from the barbecue along. He came across a black bear somewhere between a campground fee station and an ice cream stand near the park. The man threw a piece of meat at the bear, which ate it, Ipsen said. Then he offered another piece, she said.
“That’s when it kind of went ballistic,” she said.

The bear attacked the man, puncturing skin along his jaw and leaving him with scratches on his back. Park rangers later found the bloodied man washing himself off at the campground. The man was taken to an Anchorage hospital, where he was treated and released, Ipsen said.

Authorities are still trying to sort out exactly what happened because there were no witnesses to the attack and the man struggled to tell what happened to a trooper who spoke with him at the hospital.

A Fish and Game biologist was dispatched to the scene but couldn’t find the animal.

Fish and Game biologists say people should never feed wild animals anything.
Biologists often warn people to avoid accidentally attracting wildlife with garbage, birdseed or backyard livestock.

Your meal should fit within a 9-inch plate. If your favorite plate is bigger than 9 inches, it is too big. Before you begin any diet and exercise program, check in with your doctor first. He will ensure that you have no medical reasons that will prohibit exercise. There are times when weight gain can be caused by thyroid or other hormonal problems. Going to the doctor from the start can save you the disappointment of not losing weight

Just cause it is called a "scrub" doesn't mean you need to rub your skin raw with it.Use your treatments consistently. The product will be more effective when you use it frequently. While it may be difficult to build up a routine, there are things you can do that will help. For example, keep your products in plain sight. If you use the products before you sleep at night, consider putting them next to your bed.
